⚓️ the first trip
gm. your boy was featured for the first time on the dGen Network Saturday.
go check it out and roast me if need be.
I can hear it now: “Biv fell off ever since he started doing features.”

the beta testing for Yuga Labs and Animoca’s Otherside continued this weekend…with a full-on stress test that included 4500 people, in-game avatars, and a first look at the graphics and world.
early word from the testers is that it’s splendidly smooth and beautiful (considering it’s a web game). for their pioneering journey, First Voyagers will receive a special designation through the metadata.
Yuga Labs 🤝 providing value
at this point, it’s become a little foolish to fade the Yuga team, which is on track to build a fully immersive metaverse game in less than a year’s time. much like their Bored Apes collection, the Otherside stands to be the gold standard of Web3 gaming…all before it’s even launched.
it’s funny…I spent years cracking my World of Warcraft addiction, only to get obsessed with NFTs, and have a World of Warcraft-style game being built by the biggest NFT company in the world.
just when I thought I was out, MMORPGs pull me back in.

staying on (the) brand, last week @BoredApeGazette posted numerous retailers who are now selling Bored Ape merch. Zumiez, Aeropostale, Old Navy, and FashionNova…just to name a few…are capitalizing on the most famous NFT in the world to sell clothes.
licensing your Bored Ape to be used by major retailers is a big brain move and one that further proves that *still* no one really knows what to do with their IP.
(otherwise, I’m sure this would have been done sooner)
corny or not? 🌽 you be the judge
however, the images of the apparel incited a lot of conversation within the Ape community. is this part of “mass adoption” or is it yet another shameless ploy from retailers to profit off us?
the retailers are no strangers to capitalizing off what’s cool at the moment. but it often marks the “top” of when something is culturally relevant. look no further than all the Pink Floyd band-tees, Peanuts and Snoopy shirts, and Betty Bop apparel that are currently in stock at your local Old Navy.
(on the flip side though, that list does bode well for NFT fans who think the Apes are already timeless and historic.)
for that reason, is it cheapening and diluting the Bored Ape brand to let people license their IP to big box retailers? as most things on NFT Twitter, I’m sure we will never settle this debate and it will only cause a lot of noise on our timelines.

bear market what? Moonpay apparently didn’t get the memo as they announced the hiring of new C-suite team members. while most companies seemed to be scared off by the current market conditions (looking at you, OpenSea), Moonpay continues to build and pay their executive team far too much, I’m sure.
speaking of hiring, my beloved Cool Cats are hiring marketing positions right now. who wouldn’t want to go work for the Cats? Bored Ape co-founder GordonGoner just said he likes them, in fact!
