⚓️ beanie resurfaces...
gm.
you know what they say…
ALPHA ⚓️
Beanie is back.
it brings me no pleasure to tell you that Beanie has “resurfaced”.
out of nowhere on Wednesday night, *the* Beanie Maxi randomly jumped into ThreadGuy and Shillin_Villain’s Twitter Space. it’s been 6 months since we’ve heard from him…so 15K of us NFT bozos (respectfully) tuned in to see what he had to say.
of course, over the course of 3 hours, it was mostly a pity party for Beanie (he FWIW feels he was “canceled” unjustly).
smarter people than myself got to wondering though…why now? why this Spaces?
the answer came late in that Spaces and blew up yesterday: Beanie is an investor in the newly launched Blur marketplace.
the team has done their best to quickly distance themselves from Beanie…whose name carries a lot of baggage in the space.
being removed from the masthead and having the founder of Blur tweet this tells you everything you need to know about the Beanie return:

Lord of the Rings Get WB’s First NFTs
Tolkien is back in the zeitgeist…so what better time to profit off Lord of the Rings?
Warner Bros understands this and has decided to “get with the times” by releasing their first NFTs based around The Fellowship of the Ring.
collecting is collecting, and I’m sure there will be people who want these much like they wanted the Nickolodeon NFTs.
what I think many are missing is that there is always *context* with collectibles. why are rookie cards more valuable than other basketball cards, for example? it’s because that is “history”.
the Fellowship of the Ring came out 20 years ago. that is now *ancient* history culturally.
these NFTs could commemorate an anniversary, but no one can be convinced these are important. if they had come out with the release of the movie (though that would have been impossible) then perhaps we could consider them to be culturally significant.
but as constituted, these NFTs are nothing more than a cash grab.
GAMMA ⚓️
Deadfellaz x DraftKings
I can’t stop writing about Deadfellaz. but that’s because their partnerships just keep getting weirder…and I’m here for it, honestly.
they are now partnered with DraftKings Reignmakers (a fantasy football-inspired NFT game) to bring their art style to your favorite NFL players. this seems to be a one-time deal for Halloween but could once bring some crossover brand recognition to the Horde.
(Odell Beckham Jr FWIW is still rocking his Deadfellaz PFP)
what I like about it is that Deadfellaz is leaning into what made NFTs so interesting in the first place…that they’re odd. and their Web1 and Web2 partnerships have shown recently that they’re not scared to take unconventional, head-scratching swings.

Toby & Vinnie 🫂
Toby has been a BivNFT supporter since literally day 1.
and it’s super inspiring to see him and Vinnie Hager still doing great things with their Letters project.
I’ve long wanted to get one and finally was able to do so today…conveniently just as this write-up dropped on HypeMoon. go give it a read!
