⚓️ cool cats x animoca
gm.
I bought an NFT yesterday that has personal/sappy story attached to it…and you can read more about it here ⤵️
allow me to get even more sappy about NFTs for a sec (no, this isn’t going to end in Sappy Seals joke, I promise).
don’t NFTs rule though? they’ve allowed me to connect with people, artists, and communities all over the world.
some connections are in my backyard and some are thousands of miles away. either way…they’re *all* starting to feel important.
I appreciate the supporters of BivNFT. you mean a lot to me (whether you like it or not).
ALPHA ⚓️
you may have heard of Animoca Brands… (personally, I hadn’t until they starting building the Otherside for Yuga Labs).
however, they seem hellbent on partnering with NFT brands…for what many are saying is the “future of gaming”. today, it was announced that Animoca now has a strategic (and financial) interest in Cool Cats…ever heard of them?!
the gaming industry has long needed “disrupting” and many in the space (myself included) have been bullish on the blockchain’s ability to provide that. P2E gaming was all anyone could talk about at the beginning of the year with Wolf Game. but because games take a *long* time to build, momentum has waned recently.
through this partnership however, Animoca gains a brand that*already* has some gaming system and infrastructure in place. who knows if this could accelerate the rate at which we see blockchain games a bit. for now, we *do* know this partnership was formed with the expansion of Cool Cats’ gaming offering explicitly in mind (you can read as much in their press release).
BETA ⚓️
speaking of Cool Cats…did Bored Apes just copy them? actually strike that from the record…I don’t want to start a war.
but I did mention that community councils could become popular trend when Cool Cats formed theirs. it makes a lot of sense for brands looking to build loyalty and trust within their community…
what’s interesting to me about this approach for Yuga Labs is that they are most certainly *not* Cool Cats. while Cool Cats management has previously made decisions that leave holders scratching their heads, Bored Ape holders have been *more* than happy with the way their founders have run things so far.
why wouldn’t they be? Bored Apes are still the most valuable NFT in the space and have essentially printed money for their holders.
it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out now that *some* of that power has been conceded to the community.
DELTA ⚓️
in honor of their partnership, Animoca acquired one of the Coolest Cats. outside of a CryptoPunk (yes, I’m basic), a Bob Ross Cool Cat is my personal NFT grail.
I met Tim and Jorrel at JPEG prty in August, where Jorrel and I talked a lot about Web3 content…and specifically podcasts. well now, they’ve launched their own pod called Mintplexity. they’re only on episode 3 and already cooking…so check it out and be “early”.
