⚓️ don’t call it a comeback
the turbulent tides of crypto change quicker than a typhoon during monsoon season here in Hong Kong. which have ultimately desensitized me to whether or not we’re still in a bear market.
oh right, I almost forgot to mention, Biv’s moving this week so it’s me, subvert, filling in for a few days. my friends call me sub.
let’s dive in, shall we?
as I brought up earlier — are we really in a bear market?
it might be the quiet before the storm, but it seems like real whales move in silence like lasagna. thankfully, we can see the ripples of their movements on chain.
(really going deep with this maritime theme, aren’t we? heh.)
first off, we’ve got @machibigbrother selling his Mega Noise Mutant Ape to @fragmentxyz, creators of @appliedprimate and now the proud owners of 5 Mega Mutants in total.
next up, we’ve got @EB7 derisking by breaking down his trippy pimp ape into a big box of Yuga assets with more liquidity. this looks like the NFT equivalent of the Paul George trade if you ask me.
last but not least, we’ve got a big Mega Koda sale for 200 ETH. although we still don’t know what the f@!k a Koda is, there are only 99 Mega Kodas in total that all have a certain level of affinity to the pieces of Otherside land that they’re on.
if you’re looking for any insight on these trades, here’s my take: these big moves are brand plays. ponying up for premium assets will always cost an arm and a leg, but purchasing them during an inactive market will not only save money later (both in ETH and USD), but also give a longer runway to build and monetize those asset IPs (in particular, looking at @appliedprimate’s Mega Mutant roster).
can’t wait to see them pop up on products & billboards everywhere.
speaking of comebacks, remember Pixelmon?
after revamping the avatar graphics, the community’s been building new stuff with the IP, attracting a big pot of VC funding as well.
the video looks cool, but hey — fool me once, fool me twice.
