⚓️ keith grossman ➡️ moonpay
gm.
over the holiday weekend, I went to Disneyland again.
while I was there, I knocked on the Mouse’s door and gave him my best pitch on why he should acquire Cool Cats.
I’ll say this…I wasn’t escorted out of the park for wearing Cool Cats merch. so I think they might be interested after all…

Keith Grossman moves to MoonPay
Keith Grossman *was* the President of TIME (you may remember them from the magazine stand of your elementary school’s library). yesterday, it was announced by the man himself that he would *now* be moving to MoonPay as their new President, Enterprise.
in his TIME at TIME, he helped bring an old media company into the world of NFTs…to some success (depending on who you’re asking). regardless, they never seemed to waver in their commitment to Web3, which is more than can be said for 99% of the legacy brands who enter the space.
it’s what I’d imagine made Keith so enticing to MoonPay. and now that they have him, he can once again help bridge that gap between traditional, *enterprise* businesses and Web3.
remember how MoonPay would buy a Bored Ape for a celebrity and then have them tweet about it? it’ll probably be something like that still…but instead of Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton, Madonna, and Jimmy Fallon, it’ll be legacy *companies* like Johnson&Johnson, Hallmark, and Maytag.
take that as you will…

the trial of jimmy set to begin
buried in a sea of leftovers and American football was the announcement that the Trial of Jimmy is set to begin on Christmas this year.
this has been an event on the Bored Ape roadmap and for that reason, the community has big expectations.
given Yuga’s history, you’d imagine that the Trial of Jimmy will involve some sort of airdrop. but not so fast…I’d imagine that they’re hesitant to airdrop *anything* right now with a pending SEC investigation (more on that in a sec).
but leave it to us to speculate still…since the teaser tweet contained a dog on the box, many theorized it would involve the Bored Ape Kennel Club dogs. and what do you know? their value pumped over the holiday weekend.
all this being said, it certainly *seemed* like this announcement was a marketing attempt to bury some bad news…that ApeCoin staking would not be available for US and Canadian residents.
obviously, there will be workarounds, but overall, it’s not a great look after the staking’s numerous delays and the fact that it now means that individuals (and not Yuga) will now carry the risk.
I like to imagine that Yuga Labs has an arsenal of announcements just for situations like this. they have a press release or teaser ready to go as soon as substantial FUD is surrounding them. and poof! they get everyone to forget about their missteps with some hype.

y00t staking
speaking of building hype, nobody (and I mean nobody) does it better than Frank.
yesterday, he teased (3) big announcements that would change your life (if you’re a y00ts holder) FOREVER.
also? it would change the Solana ecosystem forever *too*.
lofty goals for sure, but leave it to Frank to put them out there and *mildly* meet those expectations.
so what were the 3 game changers?
y00ts staking is live
DeGods staking has been revamped
and as I write this, #3 has been moved to today…in classic NFT fashion
if the announcement has already been released by the time you read this, I can only imagine how amazing the news was…I’m sure it met expectations and then some.
but jokes aside, here I am still writing about this (which is a testament to Frank’s marketing prowess and definitely makes me a huge fool).
it harkens back to the Goblintown days when everyone was hanging on to every word their team had to say…ahh already the good ol’ days…when NFT NYC was rocking and it was all about to come crashing down.

Art Basel
speaking of NFT events, some semblance of #vibez are returning this week with Art Basel in Miami.
they’ll be a lot of cool installations there from your favorite projects (including a Doodle minigolf course), but I’m interested to see what the hell fxhash is talking about with their ‘performance in code’ experience.
generative art is still all the rage, and quietly fxhash has been killing the game on Tezos. regardless of the chain, I’d love to see what a live minting experience actually looks like.
P.S. I’ll be diving into the Tezos art world and fxhash in more detail in a future post.
until then, enjoy Art Basel for all those attending!
