⚓️ Moonbirds Mythics - what to know
gm.
a lot of announcements from NFT projects this week. September is off to a hot start.
and maybe I’ll be making an announcement or two of my own in the coming days. stay tuned! 👀
ALPHA ⚓️
Proof (owners of Moonbirds and Oddities) had a rough August. from fanny pack-gate to the CC0 controversy, holders were looking for any kind of win at the Future Proof conference in LA this.
luckily, they got a few…maybe you can get the bloom *back* on the Kevin Rose (I will drive this joke into the damn ground, I assure you).
not only are they securing more funding, but they’re also launching another collection. but hear me out…this one sounds promising.
Moonbirds Mythics will be “Moonbirds 2” hatched from eggs…and have a circulation of 20K.
here’s where the game theory comes in: you can burn an Oddities for an egg, or stake a Moonbird for an egg. then, at *random*, 25 Moonbirds will hatch a Mythic per day.
pretty cool mechanics, huh?
this means Mythics will have a tail of about a year (at least) and the art (so far) looks better than the actual Moonbirds and Oddities…though admittedly the bar was pretty low.
I, for one, am excited to see if I can wiggle my way into the Proof ecosystem over the next year finally.
BETA ⚓️
more announcements incoming…World of Women has something up their sleeve too.
after WoW recently airdropped capacitors to their holders, we now have more clarity on what they do. and it turns out the capacitor will transform into an OnCyber virtual home.
this is the second OnCyber drop I’ve gotten in the last 30 days (I got one from Deadfellaz too)…on top of the room I started on my own to showcase Tezos artwork a few months back.
it’s a slight letdown when compared to Proof…and World of Women continues to lose momentum.
VR is a technology that is a few years away from being a few years away. much like NFTs, it got off to a hot start but has only slowed and faded in the public consciousness in the past few years.
blending the two of them together makes sense all the sense in the world though. they’re a lot of natural synergies between VR and NFTs…specifically the metaverse.
and it has been the hopes of many projects that a bet that hitching their wagon to the metaverse will bear fruit in the not-so-distant future.
that might be the case, but as I’ve been harping on lately, the future may appear closer than it actually is.
DELTA ⚓️
“digital keepsakes” sounds worse than NFTs, but no one wants to have that conversation. that’s partly because if the acronym “NFTs” is used anywhere online these days, a bunch of nerds (bigger ones than us if you can imagine) will be *outraged* in the replies.
shout out to FUDrick Douglas. I’ve been loving his videos; this one in particular shows how meaning and story are attached to every NFT token.
