⚓️ who is Balthazar Crumps?
today I got a new library card…despite not having one in over a decade.
when I picked it up at my local branch, I had that *classic* thought to myself.
“this should be an NFT.”
just NFT things…
Art Gobblers drama (cont’d)
I wrote recently about the apparent “influencer” manipulation behind the project Art Gobblers. well, Art Gobblers continue to dominate the NFT discussion…but for all the wrong reasons.
now, it is noted influencer Andrew Wang who is in hot water.
he was hired to discreetly run an Art Gobblers companion account that was written in the voice of a 13-year-old. however, the content of that Twitter account has been criticized *at the very least* for being inappropriate and gross.
some of the accusations go *much* farther than that though and dive into the ethics of pretending to be a 13-year-old…and maybe even sexualizing them.
this then sparked a *different* conversation surrounding Art Gobblers founder, Justin Roiland. old animation videos have resurfaced that have now been tagged with similar allegations.
their reputations as artists and worse…as people…have come into question all over this marketing stunt. so I just hope the 300 followers were worth it…
speaking of hot water…there’s another project currently battling a community. unfortunately, for the Gutter Cat Gang, it’s their own.
the long-awaited $GANG token (which accompanies a Gutter Cat Gang P2E game called ‘Gang Wars’) was…once again…delayed due to worries of SEC oversight.
Yuga Labs is currently being investigated for their $APE token and it apparently has scared off many projects from launching their own coin.
it’s understandable, but many prominent members of the Gutter community were *not* happy about the annoucement. so they took their disappointment to Discord and were promptly banned.
Doodles have been crushed for their radio silence, yet they’ve held up rather well still. Gutter Cat Gang, despite a lot more communication, has not seen the same sturdiness, which likely contributes to the turmoil.
but if you’ve ever been in the Gutter before, you’ll know that drama is par for the course with their community. and somehow the gang always has a way of working things out.
what’s the best NFT trait?
great thought experiment here…these are my (personal) rankings for most *iconic* traits in the the NFT space:
Vans fumbles the bag
‘Where My Vans Go’ is one of the most popular NFT projects ever…and has already been featured at auction houses like Sotheby’s.
somehow though, Vans managed to fumble an enormous bag and marketing opportunity…because Drift has taken his talents to Nike.
his iconic feet pics will now dawn Nike kicks instead of the Vans, and I’d imagine it’s for contractual reasons.
check out the photos from Drift’s collection if you somehow never have. they are always insane (especially for someone like me who is afraid of heights).
