⚓️ eBay acquires KnownOrigin
gm and sorry for the late edition of this newsletter. I had jury duty this morning.
the good news is that the entire group was dismissed because they weren’t ready to select jurors yet.
I’m going to take this luck to the NFT slot machine and do some free mints today!
ALPHA ⚓️
yesterday, World of Women announced they have partnered with Hasbro to bring their “Galaxy” collection to the top shelf of a closet near you.
dust all over the Monopoly box not included (yet).
a partnership like this isn’t necessary *impressive* or even *game-changing* but it does showcase how NFTs can slowly seep into mainstream culture over the next few years.
everyone knows Monopoly, but not World of Women (yet). collabs like this can help bring NFT brand awareness to the masses. by partnering with the likes of legacy brands like Hasbro, NFTs can gain some legitimacy that can *maybe* sway the normies to reconsider their stance on NFTs. “maybe NFTs aren’t such a scam after all,” they’ll say, as they steal the money from ‘free parking’.
BETA ⚓️
another day, another Doodles announcement.
for those keeping track there is now the Doodles Genesis collection, along with Dooplicators, with these new Buckets that are up for auction, and don’t forget that Doodles 2 is coming soon!
it’s not yet as complicated as PixelVault, but it’s certainly getting there.
what happened to KISS? (not the band, though I do wonder when they’re dropping an NFT collection). you know? “keep it simple, stupid.”
even for those who cover NFTs on a daily basis, it’s often hard to understand some of these ecosystems…and all their different collections, companions, and utility.
unless you are intimately plugged into these communities - checking the Discords and reading their updates - a lot is lost in notification wasteland.
and if even *we* can’t keep up with everything than how do we expect onboard others…especially when having them set up cold and hot wallets is already a dealbreaker?
DELTA ⚓️
if the porn industry is using your technology, you know you’re on the right track. no word if this is a domain squatter or an actual industry tycoon, but either way it’s now the second-highest ENS sale to date.
eBay has decided to throw their hat in the metaverse by filing for some trademarks and acquiring KnownOrigin (an NFT marketplace) this week. the fit is so obvious that I’m almost surprised this didn’t happen sooner. get ready to sell all those “historical NFTs” that have been sitting in your wallet. I know, for one, I will be bundling my Top Shot collection for sale on NFTeeBay.
